Hand in Hand, the Galway-based Children’s Cancer Charity helping families throughout Ireland during their journey through childhood cancer treatment, announced today its strategic partnership with leading global insurance company Aviva.

As part of the leading insurer’s corporate social responsibility efforts, Aviva is supporting local as well as national charities in the communities in which they operate. Hand in Hand is the first Galway charity selected through their staff nominations.

“We are thrilled to be selected as Aviva’s charity partner in Galway,” said Laura Bromley, fundraiser for Hand in Hand. “Aviva have an excellent corporate social responsibility programme and their enthusiasm in charitable giving and employee engagement is contagious. We have worked with the Galway office on smaller projects, and are delighted to be able to work with them on a larger scale.”

The Aviva office in Galway selected Hand in Hand through employee vote and will be working alongside the charity on a number of projects through 2018.

“We are excited to be able to support such a worthy local charity,” Breda Judge, volunteer coordinator for Aviva said. “We pride ourselves in our enthusiastic employees who cannot wait to get started with this endeavour. Aviva provides not only financial support for charities, but also offer the skills of their staff in assisting non-profit organizations to reach their goals. This new initiative allows Aviva to expand its support to smaller charities on-top of our existing charitable commitments.”

Hand in Hand work alongside professional services suppliers across the country to provide practical supports with childcare, domestic cleaning, household laundry, and family meals. The aim is to alleviate some of the stress and trauma experienced by parents with a child undergoing treatment and enable them to spend precious time with their children.
